LSA as Civic Agency
LSA as Civic Agency was a Design Think Tank at the London School of Architecture exploring themes of Spatial Justice. A collaboration between DSDHA and Alicia Pivaro and supported by Nicola Antaki, the research explored the potential new home of the LSA in Holy Trinity Dalston.
The brief asked:
How could the London School of Architecture become a truly civic and meaningfully municipal institution, partnering with communities, local government, associations, and civil society to effect real change in its neighbourhood. What are the programmatic needs of the LSA to deliver ambitious disruptive teaching programmes, remaining fleet of foot but truly embedded in the city and maximising knowledge exchange with local people and the Practice Network? In essence, what are the spatial manifestations of the LSA with the ‘City as Campus’?
The initial work addressed the core themes of Climate Emergency
and what Spatial Justice means for our range of users from the school
child, to the street cleaner and to the faith groups and communities of
Hackney and how the LSA can collaborate to build the skills,
knowledge and potential of citizens and students developing a
framework for measuring social value.
